Project Description

Abstract of Project:
Resume 2.0 is a way for me, and anyone in the future that wants to use my template, to showcase their skillsets and experience. I have noticed that Todd Peterson now has a similar website, and the course now requires online portfolios, which has further confirmed to me the value of Resume 2.0. The site hosts a simple resume for those looking at traditional pieces, but also branches out in detail with many visual aids. As such, it caters to each type of individual looking at it, in order to allow them access to as much of the information is pertinent to them. Unlike a traditional resume, this online portfolio now has relevant information for any type of work or application. The Site has different categories focusing on major parts of life and skillsets.

There are now some minor changes to my original abstract that came with my most recent update to this site. The categories have slightly different names as some of the original categories were lumped together due to similarities. A couple of new categories were added as well. Lastly, there are no links to cross over between different categories, as a floating bar allowing access to the categories ended up being a far more efficient and simple solution. Overall the concept and application remained the same.

Goal: I Created a feasible online replacement for a traditional resume that includes multiple categories covering and showcasing myself as a whole.
I achieved this goal by working with one of my cousins that is a graphic designer and works in website creation to create an aesthetically pleasing and information stocked website. It took a lot of time to determine what pictures and videos to post in order to give enough material for people to browse over, without putting so much material in that it would be overlooked. I was also able to achieve this goal by spending time on the wording that the site has, not talking myself up so much that I appear overly cocky, but providing recognition for accomplishments at the same time.
Outcome(s): People selecting for jobs, leadership positions and other such opportunities are able to see and understand more about me as an individual and what I have to offer. I am also now able to market myself more effectively and have an online presence.
The outcomes have been met because the website I created is on business cards I can hand out, easily available for me to text or email the link, and people that I have interest in working with are able to view the site and see more than just a resume. I cannot say that the site has thus far landed me a new career or opportunity, but I also have not been searching for a new career or opportunity since the site was created.

One of the unanticipated outcomes is that I am able to share this site with potential sales reps that I am trying to get signed on as contractors for the business I run. I had never thought of this prior to the site being created, but it allows people to see that I am a real person and have more trust in what it is that I do. That has been a really cool piece to this project!

Deliverables: Upon completion of the project I will have a fully functioning website with the 6 main categories listed above, an interactive experience, and I will have a web presence.

I am presenting deliverables comparable to the originally proposed. www.brettonftrapnell.com
